How payments work in Mindbody
Mindbody Payments covers in-person cards, online cards, recurring memberships and saved cards. Mindbody's payments page describes Mindbody Processing as a registered independent sales organization, so banks and processors sit behind it.
A payment processor is the company that moves card money from your customer to your bank. For a studio on Mindbody Payments, that is set up through Mindbody.
What you can do instead
- Find the fees on your Mindbody reports or statement and divide them by your card sales to get your effective rate.
- If you want to leave Mindbody Payments someday, plan for recurring memberships first. Moving recurring billing needs the saved cards to move too.
- Ask us to read your numbers with you. A person will tell you what they mean, even if the answer is to stay where you are.
- Treat a change of software as a separate decision. There is no pressure to switch.
Questions merchants ask
What happens to my members' saved cards if I leave Mindbody Payments?
Moving memberships to another processor means moving recurring billing. That usually needs the old service to release the saved cards, or members to enter them again. Ask Mindbody what it will release before you plan a move.
Where do I find my Mindbody processing fees?
Open your monthly processing statement and add up every fee. Divide that total by your card sales for the month. The result is your effective rate, the real percentage you pay after every fee. Our free statement review walks you through it.
How do I match deposits to sales?
Deposits arrive after fees come out, in batches. Your Mindbody reports and your bank deposits need to be compared batch by batch. We can show you where each fee sits.
Who handles chargebacks?
Disputes go to the payment service that processes the card, which here is Mindbody Payments. Keep your records and answer by the date on the notice.
