How payments work in Housecall Pro
Housecall Pro Payments takes card payments inside the app, including in person, online and by bank transfer (ACH). Housecall Pro's help center describes it as the app's own payment option, and a Stripe case study describes it as built on Stripe.
A payment processor is the company that moves card money from your customer to your bank. Housecall Pro's help article says you are not restricted to its integrated processor, and also says you cannot use the credit card option in the app if you do not use its payment processor. We have not found an integrated outside-processor option.
What you can do instead
- Add up your card fees for a month and divide by your card sales to get your effective rate.
- Read Housecall Pro's help article on whether you must use its payment processing, then ask us to read your numbers with you.
- If you ever take payments outside the app, plan how you will record them against the job.
- Treat a change of software as a separate decision. There is no pressure to switch.
Questions merchants ask
Do I have to use Housecall Pro's payment processing?
Housecall Pro's help article answers this directly. It says you are not restricted to its integrated processor, but that you cannot use the credit card option in the app if you do not use its payment processor.
Where do I see my card processing fees?
Open your monthly processing statement and add up every fee. Divide that total by your card sales for the month. The result is your effective rate, the real percentage you pay after every fee. Our free statement review walks you through it.
Can I add a surcharge for card payments?
Housecall Pro publishes a surcharging FAQ in its help center. Rules also vary by card network and by state, so check before you add one.
Can I use another processor's card reader with the app?
We have not found a supported way to do that. Ask us and we will check your setup.
