Managed IT for Schools & Education
K-12 schools, private academies, and school districts get the same MDM, EDR, content filtering, and managed Wi-Fi stack large districts deploy, without the district-scale price tag. FERPA-aligned configuration, campus networks, and E-Rate support from one provider.
Challenges Schools Face
FERPA Compliance Gaps
Student records require the same level of protection as healthcare data. Most schools lack the IT controls to demonstrate FERPA compliance under audit.
Unreliable School Networks
When 500 students connect at once, your network crashes. Bandwidth planning, access point placement, and network segmentation are not optional.
1:1 Device Management at Scale
Managing hundreds of Chromebooks or iPads (enrollment, updates, filtering, repairs) without a dedicated IT team is unsustainable.
Cyber Threats Targeting Schools
K-12 is the most-targeted sector for ransomware. Schools hold sensitive student and financial data with minimal security staff.
What We Provide
FERPA & CIPA Compliance
Policy documentation, access controls, data encryption, and audit readiness for FERPA (student records) and CIPA (internet filtering).
1:1 Device Management
Google Admin Console and Apple School Manager deployment. Enrollment, filtering, app management, and repair tracking for Chromebook and iPad fleets.
Campus Network Design
Wi-Fi heat mapping, structured cabling, network segmentation (student vs staff vs guest), and bandwidth planning for high-density environments.
IT Support for Staff
Teachers and administrators get fast IT support via chat, phone, or email. Managed IT available by consultation for education environments.
E-Rate Funding Guidance
We help schools identify E-Rate eligible services and prepare documentation for Category 1 (internet) and Category 2 (internal connections) funding.
Staff Security Training
Phishing simulation and security awareness training tailored for school environments. Protect staff accounts from social engineering attacks.
Your stack, supported
We don't ask your district to rip out what's working
Norvet integrates with the SIS, LMS, content-filtering, and productivity systems your teachers, students, and staff already use. We harden, monitor, back up, and recover that stack. We don't replace it.
Student Information Systems (SIS)
PowerSchool, Infinite Campus, Skyward, Aeries, eSchoolData, Tyler SIS, Synergy SIS
Learning Management Systems (LMS)
Canvas, Schoology (PowerSchool), Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams for Education, Moodle, D2L Brightspace, Seesaw (K-2)
Productivity & identity
Google Workspace for Education (Fundamentals, Standard, Plus), Microsoft 365 A1/A3/A5, ClassLink, Clever, OneLogin for Education
Content filtering & CIPA compliance
GoGuardian, Securly, ContentKeeper, Lightspeed Filter (Lightspeed Systems), Cisco Umbrella for Schools, Linewize
Security stack we add alongside
SentinelOne EDR, Sophos MDR + endpoint, 24/7 managed SOC, KnowBe4 awareness training (staff), Veeam immutable backup, MFA-enforced staff access, ransomware-rollback for SIS / LMS data
Compliance frameworks
CIPA + E-Rate Category 2 eligibility, FERPA (student record privacy), COPPA for under-13, state student-privacy laws (e.g., Georgia HB 233), HIPAA where school-based health services are in scope
Running something not listed here? Most district stacks combine 5–8 of the systems above with a long tail of grade-band or program-specific tools. Tell us what you have and we'll tell you honestly which pieces we've supported in production.
Anti-disruption
What bad school IT vendors do — and we don't
We hear the same four complaints from districts switching off another IT vendor. If any of these sound familiar, Norvet works differently on purpose.
Bad vendor: They push patches the morning of a testing window. The state Milestones testing platform fails to authenticate and a school loses a day of testing capacity.
Norvet: Testing windows, state Milestones / iReady / NWEA-MAP dates, and the back-to-school week get locked. No change requests proceed during instructional or assessment days. Patches reschedule, not the test.
Bad vendor: They commingle student PII with general district traffic. A staff member opens a phishing link and the student SIS is also exposed.
Norvet: Student PII (SIS, gradebook, IEP records) is segregated and encrypted at rest. Staff access is MFA-enforced and logged. Audit logs show every read of every student record so the district can answer a FERPA inquiry from a known-clean state.
Bad vendor: They put student devices, staff devices, and IoT (smartboards, cameras, HVAC controllers) on the same network.
Norvet: Student wifi, staff wifi, IoT, and admin networks are segmented. CIPA-bound content filtering applies to the student VLAN. Smartboard + camera + HVAC controllers live on their own isolated VLAN that cannot reach the SIS.
Bad vendor: They sell "24/7 monitoring" but their alerts don’t fire on the signals that matter for instruction — Google Classroom auth failures, LMS attendance-sync failures, content filter false-positives.
Norvet: We monitor the signals that map to instruction: identity-provider authentication latency, LMS attendance-sync success, content-filter false-positive rate. Alerts page humans within minutes, not the next school day.
Extends what works
We extend what's working — we don't replace it
Most districts come to us already running a SIS, an LMS, a content filter, and a productivity stack their teachers know. Our job is to harden, monitor, back up, and recover that stack. When something genuinely needs replacing, we say so honestly and let your superintendent and board see the math.
- We deploy 24/7 SOC monitoring and EDR next to your existing antivirus — not over the top of it.
- We add encrypted offsite backup without disrupting your SIS sync to the state reporting system or your LMS gradebook.
- We segment student wifi, staff wifi, IoT (smartboards, cameras, HVAC), and admin networks so a single compromise can’t cross to the SIS.
- We adopt your school calendar and assessment windows. Patch windows respect Milestones / iReady / NWEA-MAP weeks and back-to-school week.
- When a SIS or LMS upgrade requires new hardware, we quote against the vendor’s spec sheet so your superintendent and board can compare apples-to-apples.
- We document everything we touch in your district’s documentation system, not in a private wiki our team owns. If you ever offboard from Norvet, you keep the runbook.
