Auctria processing fees: can you use a different processor?

We'll check, because Auctria's card page describes online payments and also card readers, swiping and check-in registration, and says it processes through Stripe.com or Authorize.Net, so we have not confirmed that a different processor works for the in-person side. We will reply within one business day and tell you what we need to confirm it.

How payments work in Auctria

Auctria's card page says credit card processing with Auctria is handled through either Stripe.com or Authorize.Net, and that Auctria integrates with both. It says transactions are processed directly through your own account and Auctria does not handle the funds.

The page also describes taking cards at an event: registering cards at check-in, charging in batches and swiping cards, with a separate page on the card readers it supports. It says that if you can connect your existing card processor to an Authorize.Net account, you can charge cards that way.

Auctria is software for auctions and fundraising events.

This guide says what Auctria's own page describes and what we have not confirmed. It does not promise that a different processor works.

Who this suits

Best fit

  • A nonprofit or school that runs a few big events a year and wants to understand the fees on each one.
  • Your processing contract is near its end, or you can time a change around it.
  • You have not looked at your statement in a while and want a person to read it with you.

Not a fit

  • An organization that already pays very little for processing, or that is mid-contract with a large early cancellation fee.
  • Your statement is already clear and you are happy with it. Then the honest answer may be to stay where you are.
  • You are in the middle of a contract with a large early cancellation fee and cannot time a change.

What we are checking for you

  • Whether the card readers Auctria supports would work with a different processor.
  • Whether connecting your existing card processor to an Authorize.Net account, which the page describes, fits your setup.
  • How a new account handles deposits and holds before your next event.
  • Your contract end date and any early cancellation fee.

What to watch

  • Event payments often arrive in bursts. Ask how a new account handles deposits before your next event.
  • Cards your customers have saved on file. Ask whether they can be moved to the new setup, or whether customers would need to enter them again.
  • Recurring billing and subscriptions, which are tied to those saved cards.
  • Gift card balances, if you sell gift cards.
  • Card surcharges. Card network rules and some state laws limit them, so check before you add or keep one.
  • Your current contract end date and any early cancellation fee.

Questions merchants ask

Does Auctria hold our money?

Auctria's page says it does not. Transactions go through your own account and the processor deposits the proceeds into your bank account.

Can I connect my existing processor?

The page says that if you can connect your existing card processor to an Authorize.Net account, you can charge cards that way. We check whether that fits you.

What about card readers at the event?

The page links to a separate page on the readers it supports. We have not confirmed that they work with a different processor, so we check before you change anything.

How do I see what I pay now?

Open your monthly processing statement and add up every fee. Divide that total by your card sales for the month. The result is your effective rate, the real percentage you pay after every fee. Our free statement review walks you through it.

See what you pay, for free

A person reads your statement with you and tells you what each fee means and whether a different processor is even possible with Auctria. There is no pressure to switch.
